Corporation Bank celebrated its 111th foundation day in Mangaluru on Saturday by launching an e-wallet service for smartphone users.
Launching ‘Corp e-Purse', Jai Kumar Garg, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank, said the mobile-based payment application is a green initiative by the bank to push for cash-less society.
Any individual, including a non-customer of the bank, can download it from Google Play Store and use it. The e-Purse can be loaded using debit card or net banking facilities of any bank, through NEFT from any bank, and cash deposit at any branch of Corporation Bank.
Apart from services such as fund transfer to any bank account, recharge, bill payment, ticket booking etc., users of e-Purse can make payment of both direct and indirect taxes.
Taj Mahal group of hotels in Mangaluru was honoured on the occasion for its nine decades of association with the bank. The group was represented by Kudpi Madhav Shenoy, Chairman of the group. Sunil Mehta, Executive Director of the bank, was present on the occasion.
Earlier in the day, Garg and Mehta paid tributes to the founder of the bank, late Khan Bahadur Haji Abdullah Haji Kasim Saheb Bahadur, at the founder's branch in Udupi. The bank was founded on March 12 1906 in Udupi.
