Future Generali India Life Insurance expects to recruit housewives, retired people and fresh graduates as agents.
According to a press release, the company plans to add 1,725 agents in Tamil Nadu taking its total number of agents in the State to 4,920.
The company has about 53,000 agents across the country.
Joint venture
Future Generali India Life Insurance is a joint venture between Future Group of India and Generali Group of Italy.
According to the company, 20-25 per cent of agents are active at any given point.
Tamil Nadu agents accounted for five per cent (Rs 23 crore) of the total premium income of about Rs 449 crore in 2010-11.
Branches
The company has branches in Chennai, Salem, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchi.
