Private insurer HDFC Life has launched the country’s first ever women-centric plan “Smart Woman”. The company plans to launch 3-4 more such plans in the current fiscal.

The unit-linked plan is targeted at women in the age group 18-45 working in urban areas, HDFC Life’s Marketing Head, Mr Sanjay Tripathy, said.

“We have rolled out the product in few cities at present and will soon tap other cities. We also have 3-4 more products in the pipeline and will launch them this year. We hope that women-focussed products to contribute about 30 per cent of the overall premium this year,” he said.

The ‘Smart Woman’ plan gives women a unique platform to meet their financial goals apart from offering them specific benefits in their critical life stage. Pregnancy-related complications, cancer of the female organs and death of a spouse are covered under this plan.

The minimum annual premium for the plan is Rs 24,000 and goes up to Rs 1 lakh. It offers life cover up to 40 times the annual premium and a convenient policy term of 10 and 15 years. The policy is eligible for tax benefits.
