The Karnataka Bank Managing Director, P Jayarama Bhat, has stressed the need for efficiency enhancement under critical business parameters.

Addressing the bank’s regional heads at a review conference in Mangaluru on Wednesday, Bhat said in the midst of a turbulent growth environment — both at the global and domestic levels — management of growth has become a major challenge requiring special attention.

Considering the prevailing economic scenario, the third quarter results of the bank were fairly good, particularly under CASA (current account and savings account) mobilisation and under NPA management.

He said there is an immediate need to ensure efficiency enhancement under critical business parameters such as credit augmentation and monitoring for preventing slippages and recovery of NPAs. He also stressed on the need for increasing the credit-deposit ratio and improving the net interest margin.

“More thrust needs to be given to cashless banking and branchless banking to take our digital banking initiative forward by popularising our alternate delivery channels. These measures will help us to improve our operational efficiency and achieve the goals envisaged under KBL Vision 2020 document,” he said.

Mahabaleshwara MS, Chief General Manager, highlighted the performance of the bank under core banking parameters during the third quarter, and urged the regional heads to work hard to ensure that the current year’s business goals were achieved.

A press release said here that all the 12 regional heads across the country participated in the conference.
