Karnataka Bank former chairman passes away

MS Krishna Bhat, former Chairman of Karnataka Bank Ltd, passed away in Mangaluru on Friday. He was 78.

Krishna Bhat had joined the bank in 1970, and was elevated to the position of General Manager in 1989. He became the Chief General Manager of the bank in 1994.

Krishna Bhat took over the reins of the bank as Chairman on July 12 1995, initially for a period of two years. This was extended for another three years up to July 11, 2000.

He was known for his straightforwardness, foresight, and quick decision-taking capacity. Computerisation of the operations of the bank was initiated during his tenure as Chairman of the bank.
