Liberty General Insurance on Saturday launched a health insurance cover against 60 critical illnesses.

The new cover, Critical Connect, will provide insurance cover for up to 60 critical illnesses including major and minor health conditions such as:

1. Heart or major organ transplant

2. Kidney failure

3. Cancer

4. Brain surgery

5.  CIs related to HIV/AIDS, head trauma/injury, blindness, and multiple sclerosis among others.

Further, it will also help the private sector general insurer expand its health insurance product portfolio.

“This health insurance policy will enable customers to manage most of the expenses arising due to critical illnesses. Unlike a regular Health Insurance policy, where the customer makes a claim based on the actual expenses incurred on hospitalisation, the Critical Connect health insurance policy will pay a lump-sum amount to the customer on the diagnosis of listed critical illness covered under this policy,” it said in a statement.

Under the cover, the customer can choose from two plans for sum insured ranging from Rs 1 lakh up to Rs 1 crore. The first plan allows the customer to choose critical illness bundles covering nine, 25, or 43 critical illnesses, whereas the second plan offers disease-specific bundles such as against heat ailments or cancer.
