To contribute its bit to women’s empowerment in India, global credit card company, MasterCard, and Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) launched a rural-urban development initiative in Bodeli near Vadodara on Friday.
MasterCard had pledged Rs 25 lakh to SEWA earlier this year. Under this programme, SEWA members will provide necessary training to empower the Centre’s workforce as per the needs and demands of the market, a company release said.
The initiative will ensure fair prices to the farmers for their produce and will safeguard their interests from middlemen. The centre will also process the agricultural produce for cleaning, packaging, branding and coding, it added.
