New India Assurance Co Ltd and BPCL have entered into an MoU to provide a package of three policies to registered transport contractors of the oil industry major.
The online facility developed and delivered by New India Assurance will enable the registered transport contractors of BPCL to take Carrier’s Legal Liability Insurance, and Public Liability (Act) Insurance & Motor Insurance at special prices, make payment online and receive the digitally signed policy in soft forms.
The MoU was exchanged at Mumbai between S. Ramesh, Executive Director of BPCL, and G. Srinivasan, Chairman and Managing Director of New India Assurance.
Ramesh said that this is a real innovative endeavour which will make insurance a very easy proposition to thousands of its transport contractors.
BPCL, he added, is contemplating to expand this facility to others. The company is also mulling to extend such insurance to affiliated workers like drivers and cleaners, loaders and associated helpers.
Srinivasan said that New India Assurance is eager to reach out to the transport sector through such IT-enabled services, which will help insurance to penetrate deeper into uninsured segments like uninsured vehicles.
