The next common written examination (CWE Clerk-II) for recruitment of clerical posts in public sector banks will be held tentatively in December 2012. The exam will be conducted online by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). The validity of the scorecard issued for the exam is one year. The validity of the scorecard issued for the first CWE for Clerks held in November/December 2011 expires in February 2013.
In a major change in the recruitment process, candidates who qualify in the CWE Clerk-II will subsequently be called for a common interview to be co-ordinated by IBPS. Till now, candidates qualifying in the common exam were called by different banks for interviews in line with their schedules. This often led to the same candidates receiving mulitple offers from the banks. Often, the recruitment process remained incomplete or was delayed because of this. This lacunae has now been addressed in this edition of the exam by having a common interview also.
Candidates who qualify in both the CWE and common interview will be listed in order of merit. Depending on the vacancies in each bank of his or her preference, the candidate will receive through a computerised system an offer from one of the participating public sector banks (all public sector banks except those of the State Bank group). Vacancies remaining unfilled on account of candidates declining an offer, will be filled from among the remaining candidates through subsequent iterations.
After the declaration of results of both the CWE and common interview, a notification will be issued by the IBPS giving the State/UT-wise and category-wise vacancies for each bank and the order of preference for banks will be obtained from successful candidates.
Based on the marks obtained in the CWE and the common interview as well as the indication of order of preference of banks and available vacancies, candidates would be given call letters.
