The regional rural banks (RRBs) have become inseparable part of the rural credit structure, said B. Vasudev, Regional Manager, Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVG Bank).
Speaking at the Customers’ meet, held by KVG Bank’s head office branch at Dharwad, Vasudev said RRBs which have been in existence for around four decades in the rural financial scene and they have taken deep roots.
KVG Bank’s Grama Sabha is to promote inclusive development to ensure that every segment of the poor, weak and the downtrodden has easy access to reasonable and cost-effective banking facilities in the shortest possible time.
Success of development depends to a large extent on the active participation and willing co-operation of people and hence KVG Bank has decided to conduct Grama Sabhas and customer meet on a mass scale, said Vasudev.
Bank’s Dharwad regional office has a business of Rs 2,300 crore with a branch network of 60 and all the 60 branches have observed grama sabhas and organised credit camps on Sunday and disbursed Rs 10 crore to various sector.
While explaining the recent customer-friendly schemes, senior branch manager of head office Branch S.S. Manur said people must make use of the new technology based facilities being extended by the bank. She also said that the focus is on enhancing the customer base and do mass banking. The thrust areas of the branch would be MSME, education, housing and other personal banking schemes, she added.
Gold loans at competitive interest rate would be yet another area of focus, she explained.
