SBI General Insurance has acquired over 17,000 customers in Kolkata region in the corporate, small and medium enterprises (SME) and retail segments during its first year of operations.
The company earned premium income of Rs 17 crore in the region across all three segments.
The general insurance company plans to focus on growing its retail portfolio in motor, health and home segments. The company will also give special emphasis on the SME sector during current fiscal, said Mr Pabitra Kumar Adak, Vice-President and branch sales head – Kolkata.
SBI General is present across 655 State Bank of India branches situated in Kolkata circle thereby helping it to expand its reach across the region. Apart from the bancassurance channel the company plans to expand its agency channel his year to grow its motor insurance business.
