Helped by robust growth in income from operations and other income, SKS Microfinance reported a 37 per cent increase in net profit at ₹78 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2015, against ₹57 crore in the year-ago period.
The Hyderabad-headquartered microfinance company recorded 60 per cent increase in income from operations at ₹266 crore (₹166 crore in the year-ago period). Other operating income came in at ₹25 crore (₹24 crore). Total expenses rose 38 per cent to ₹106 crore (₹77 crore). Other income surged 200 per cent to ₹33 crore from ₹11 crore in the year-ago period.
Loan disbursements increased 57 per cent year-on-year to ₹2,665 crore in the reporting quarter, against ₹1,693 crore in the year-ago quarter. In a statement, the microfinance company said it has increased its profit guidance to ₹290 crore for FY16 from ₹235 crore.
