United India Insurance has so far received claims totalling Rs 110 crore for losses in the Tamil Nadu floods, according to Milind Kharat, CMD.
Addressing mediapersons, he said the company has so far received about 130 claims valued at Rs 110 crore and more claims were expected.
Whether floods in Uttarakhand, Kashmir, or the more recent HudHud cyclone, insurance cover had been taken for just about 25 per cent of the losses.
Following HudHud 1,106 claims totalling Rs 872 crore were received. There was increasing awareness among people to opt for insurance cover, he said.
