Bus commuters will now be able to buy a travel insurance policy to cover any injury suffered during bus travel.

Bus-ticket booking Web site Abhibus.com has tied up with ICICI Lombard General Insurance to launch a travel insurance policy for bus commuters purchasing tickets from the portal.

The travel insurance policy will also include a personal accident cover and daily hospitalisation allowance.

To avail this benefit, consumers would need to tick the ‘Buy Bus travel insurance’ option while booking tickets on abhibus.com.

The insurance policy will cover hospitalisation expenses up to Rs 1.5 lakh, while the cover for personal accident would be Rs 2 lakh. In addition, it will pay Rs 500 per day as a daily allowance (except for the first 24 hours) in case of hospitalisation for a maximum of seven days.

Sanjay Datta, Chief - Underwriting and Claims, ICICI Lombard, said: “With this unique product, bus commuters can now avail a host of insurance benefits related to their bus journey, which include reimbursement of hospitalisation expenses, personal accident cover and daily hospitalisation allowance."

AbhiBus.com, which is headquartered in Hyderabad, is a service provider for more than 100 large private bus operators in India, four state transport corporations and two international operators.
