UCO Bank has said that during the recent rain and flooding in Chennai the bank could keep its services up and running. Out its 29 branches in Chennai, 27 were operational, often for extended hours and even on Sundays in the flood affected areas.
UCO Bank said in a release that 17 ATMs provided normal services. In many branches despite connectivity problem laptops were used to carry out the banking work. A mobile ATM went round many of the flood-affected areas in the city and witnessed record hits of more than 600 on one single day necessitating refill of the ATM.
It also distributed food packets and drinking water bottles in Saidapet, severely affected by floods and other areas.
