Kolkata-based lender, United Bank of India has recently convened a special State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) meeting in West Bengal.
The meeting was called for the implementation of comprehensive financial inclusion in 'mission mode'.
The meeting was attending by the two EDs of United Bank – Deepak Narang and Sanjay Arya, State Pricipal Secretary in-charge of Finance, H K Dwivedi, and the Director of the Union Finance Department, Anna Roy, apart from other top executives of the State Government, banks, Reserve Bank of India and Nabard.
According to a release issued by United Bank, 3,308 gram panchayats in West Bengal have been mapped to 8,661 sub-service areas (SSAs), out of which 6,972 SSAs have already been covered and the remaining 1,689 SSAs will be covered in three stages by the end of this fiscal (FY15).
