Earlier last week, US President Trump issued a proclamation to suspend H-1B, other visas till year-end.
The executive order valid from June 24 prohibits the entry of foreign workers coming into the country with H-1B, L-1, J-1, J-2, and H-2B visas.
The latest ban was an extension of an earlier one in April which prohibited a certain category of green card holders from entering the US for 60 days.
Last week, India’s confirmed coronavirus cases, crossed the 5,00,000 mark. India’s present count includes 2,00,000 active cases and 16,000 plus deaths to date.
Chennai Customs had stopped clearance of all import consignments of cargo that arrived via both sea and air routes from China. This was the second such stoppage last week.
In return, there were reports stating that Hong Kong and Chinese Customs were holding back export consignments from India over the last few days.
This comes on the heels of escalation of tension between India and China on the disputed territory of Ladakh.
