The iconic 280-ft tall Rajabai Clock Tower in South Mumbai was restored by Somaya and Kalapana Consultants. The restoration process involved structural services like stoning, woodwork, water-proofing, electrical works and fire alarms and interior works along with ensuring the longevity of the building for future generations.

The foundation stone was laid on March1, 1869 and the construction was completed in November 1878. Designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, an English architect, it reflects the Gothic and Venetian style of architecture. Text and pictures by Paul Noronha
