In South India, the prices of rice we consume daily are all ruling above or around Rs 60 a kg. You could wonder why the prices of rice we consume are increasing despite the Government’s efforts to cool them through various measures.

Over the last two years, the price of rice has been surging. According to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, rice prices have increased by about 10 per cent over the past 12 months.
