The Centre is looking to increasing the use of Ethanol Blended Petrol to achieve its energy security and green goals objectives.
The policy has been in place for nearly two decades, and the country has had success recently -- it has achieved 10 percent ethanol blending five months ahead of schedule in June 2022 plans are on fill swing to get E20 blend by 2025.
Over 1,600 retail outlets already offer 20 percent ethanol blended fuel, a significant leap from the 1.4 per cent blending before 2014. However, the price and continuous supply of raw materials are issues that need to be addressed.
