NDRF personnel clear uprooted trees from a road in the aftermath of super cyclone Amphan, at Namkhana in Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district.

The Centre on Saturday said it is dispatching 10 additional teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to West Bengal, taking the total number of teams deployed to 36.

The decision was taken because the Ministry of Home Affairs received a written request from the State government, an official statement said.

The teams are likely to reach Kolkata by late Saturday night.

Currently, 26 NDRF teams are engaged in post-cyclone restoration work in six districts which are worst hit by the cyclone Amphan. Over 70 people in the State have died due to the cuclone.
