Thirteen people, including four children, were today killed and three others seriously injured when a local train rammed into a jeep at an unmanned railway crossing in Kothipar area here.
The incident took place at 1 a.m. when the victims were returning from a wedding. The jeep carrying 16 people was hit by the train going to Narkatiyaganj from Gorakhpur at Beniawana unmanned crossing, police said.
While 13 people died on the spot, three others were rushed to a hospital where their condition was stated to be the serious.
Four children — Jairam, Luvkush, Ramlakhan and Chandan — were killed in the accident.
