A total of 4,360 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya students have qualified for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advance this year, 22 per cent more than the previous year’s 3,563 students.
This is testimony to the government’s focus on quality education, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted on Thursday.
JEE, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), makes students eligible for admission in premier institutes such as the Indian Institutes of Technology, the National Institutes of Technology. and the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. As many as 11,653 Navodaya students took the JEE (Main) this year. Navodaya Vidyalayas were started in 1986 to provide quality education to children mainly from rural areas.
