Tata Steel is organising ‘Samvaad’, a four-day event at Jamshedpur from Saturday. The festival commemorates the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, the iconic tribal freedom fighter of eastern India.

Tata Steel’s Tribal Cultural Society, the organiser, said the conclave aims to bring together tribes from all across the country on a common platform.

Issues such as vulnerable tribal groups, livelihoods, tribal perspective on development, tribal medicinal systems and protection of natural habitat, languages, scripts and women will be addressed at the event.

Discussions on development models that have worked or the efforts that have been successful would also be shared.

Cultural performances by groups from Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Ladakh, Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Maharashtra will be a part of the programme.
