A mild quake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale was felt this morning in Kutch district of Gujarat. However, there were no reports of any casualties.
“A minor earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter Scale hit Kutch district at 6.30 am. The epicentre of the earthquake was 22 km northwest from Bhachau town of district,” officials of the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) said.
“Another minor tremor measuring 2 on Ritcher Scale was also felt at 7.47 am after the first tremor,” they added.
People living in tall buildings felt the first tremors in the early morning hours, Kutch district officials said.
“People living in high rises and tall buildings in Kutch experienced the quake and ran out of their houses but there were no reports of any damage to property or casualties due to the tremors,” officials of the Kutch district emergency control room added.
