Seven people, including two children and four women, were today killed in an attack by suspected NDFB (Songbijit) militants at a village in Kokrajhar under Bodoland Territorial Administrative District (BTAD) of Assam.
A group of heavily armed extremists swooped down on two houses in Balaparajan Village-1 under Goreswar police station at around 1 a.m. and opened indiscriminate fire, killing 7 persons on the spot, IGP L R Bishnoi told PTI.
The two injured men have been admitted to a hospital in a serious condition, he said.
A joint combing operation by the police and paramilitary forces has been launched in the area to track down the assailants, official sources said.
Last night, another group of NDFB-S ultras in Daksa district of BTAD had gunned down three persons, including two women, and injured an infant.
