The Centre has allotted ₹107 crore to the Coconut Development Board during the financial year for the implementation of flagship programmes/ schemes.
This includes replanting and rejuvenation, a technology mission on coconut, laying out a demonstration programme, coconut palm insurance and information and information technology.
Other focused programmes of the board include promotion of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), promotion of value-added products, especially Neera and its by-products, technology research and product development for value-added coconut products, a certificate course in coconut processing at the CDB Institute of Technology, implementation of a skill development programme such as the Friends of Coconut Tree (FoCT) training and training of Neera technicians.
