Veteran journalist Vinod Mehta was conferred with the Lokmanya Tilak Rashtriya Patrakarita award instituted by the Kesari-Maharatta trust at a function here.
The annual award was given last night to Mehta, Chairman, Outlook Group , by Dipak Tilak, Editor of Kesari and great grandson of the Lokmanya Tilak who started the paper more than a century ago to mobilise masses against the British rule.
After being felicitated, Mehta said the media was facing a crisis of credibility and it was a challenge before it to keep people’s faith in the printed word intact.
He said imbibing the journalism as practiced by Lokmanya Tilak could again make the media credible and restore its fearless and principled character in the society.
