One week after the modified direct benefit transfer scheme for LPG cylinders took off in 54 districts in 11 States, Rs 103 crore has been disbursed so far, the Oil Ministry said after a review of the scheme in select districts via video-conferencing.
A total of 1.7 crore consumers (73 per cent) are now on market price, which constitute 10 per cent of the entire LPG consumer population.
Over 5.3 lakh households have joined the new scheme and 20 lakh transactions have been done during the week, the Minsitry said in a release.
The modified Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG (DBTL) scheme was relaunched in 54 districts on November 15 in the first phase and will be launched in the rest of the country on January 1, 2015.
The scheme was reviewed by the Minister of State (Independent charge) of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, who took first hand feedback of the progress in select districts.
