To tide over the shortage of petroleum products in Telangana districts, the State has proposed a slew of measures after reviewing the situation with oil companies IOC, BP and HP.

Oil firms should have two shifts to load petroleum products into trucks at the IOC depot in Ramagundam. Adjustment of product between the companies should be done from Warangal, Suryapet and Ramagundam to ensure requirements are met and transportation costs are reduced.

State Finance Minister, Etela Rajender, emphasised the need for a long-term action plan for Telangana State by going for more oil depots in the State. Oil companies should take necessary action and Government would provide support for setting up depots.

In response, the companies spoke about existing proposals for expansion such as establishment of a new IOC depot near Hyderabad by connecting to Paradeep Port by underground pipeline and expansion and upgradation of existing depots such as Cherelapalli and Warangal, an official press release stated

He also informed about the letter written by the Government to the Railways to allow free movement of rakes carrying petroleum products to Warangal, Ramagundam and Cherlapalli points.
