Ahmedabad to get UK Dy High Commission

The UK Minister for Trade & Investment, Lord Livington on Saturday announced setting up of a Deputy High Commission in Ahmedabad to facilitate the Gujarat is living in The Britain.

"Soon there will be a Deputy High Commission in Ahmedabad. There is greater importance of this state. The announcement will be made in a few weeks," said Lord Livingston, UK Minister for Trade & Investment.

The minister confirmed that identification of the person to head the Deputy High Commission is already made and has been approved by the Indian authorities.

The UK already has a trade office for UK Trade and Investment in Ahmedabad.

The minister, who is visiting the seventh edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2015 on Sunday at Mahata Mandir in Gandhinagar, mentioned that UK has been the largest investor to invest in India among the G-20 countries.

"Also, India invests more in UK than in any other parts of European Union," informed the Minister at a media briefing here.

UK is the partner country for Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2015 and has brought one of the biggest delegation of 60 companies for the event.
