The All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) will hold an all-India protest day on August 22 against the sacking of 500 workers of Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant, which is slated to partially open on August 21 under heavy security cover.
In Delhi, the AICCTU will burn the effigy of the Hooda Government and the CEO of Suzuki Motors, Osamu Suzuki, in front of Haryana Bhawan, it said in a release here on Monday.
Suzuki is supposed to land in Delhi on August 22.
The AICCTU said it will present a memorandum to the Haryana Government demanding taking back all 500 terminated workers and withdrawal of the police, Rapid Action Force and bouncers from the Manesar facility as well as a judicial probe into the violence on July 18.
