Along with the 46,000 Government hospitals being built across the country, six All-India Institutes of Medical Sciences-like institutes are coming up in different parts of the country. These are to start functioning during the current financial year.

The academic session for 50 MBBS seats at each of these six new All-India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) commenced in September 2012.
