The Akshaya Patra Foundation, which runs mid-day meal programme for government schools, will open the phase-2 of its centralised kitchen in Mangalore on June 17.
Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Karunya Sagar Dasa, President of the Akshaya Patra Foundation in Mangalore, said that the foundation has been serving around 23,000 students in government schools in some parts of Dakshina Kannada district.
The foundation had been implementing the programme in association with the Karnataka Government in Dakshina Kannada district since 2006, he said.
Karnataka Forest Minister, B Ramanath Rai, will open the phase-2 kitchen of the foundation. He will also hand over awards to some meritorious students on the occasion, Dasa said.
The foundation has been serving 15 lakh students in nine states through 22 kitchens, he added.
