The Cong(I) is heading to a massive drubbing in the Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. From a hefty 33 of the 42 seats, the grand old party is hanging on precariously to lead in 2 seats, that too in Telangana region.
Virtually all the members of the former Union Cabinet in the Manmohan Singh Government contesting from the State are staring at a humiliating defeat.
The anger of the people of Seemandhra is so strong that the Cong(I) is heading towards scoring a duck in the 25 LS seats in the region, fown from an impressive 19 it held in the 15th Lok Sabha.
According to available trends, MM Pallam Raju from Kakinada, Kishore Chandra Deo from Araku, Killi Kriparani from Srikakulam, Panabaka Lakshmi from Bapatla, Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy from Kurnool, all from the Cong(I) and D Purandeswari from Rajampet fighting on a BJP ticket are firmly on the road to losing.
In the Telangana region, S Jaipal Reddy’s fortunes are fluctuating with slender margins in Mahboobnagar, while Sarve Satyanarayana is facing an uphill task in Malkajgiri.
Despite its bold move to divide the state and gain political advantage at least in the Telangana region, the Cong(I) is all set to face, perhaps its worst showing in what has traditionally been its stronghold.
