A tripartite agreement for transfer of 12 acres in Mumbai was signed on Sunday, paving the way for a memorial construction for Bharat Ratna Babasaheb BR Ambedkar.
Tripartite pactThe agreement – between the Union Textiles Ministry, Maharashtra government and National Textiles Corporation (NTC) – related to the 12 acres adjacent to the Chaityabhoomi in the Indu Mills Compound in Mumbai, where the last rites of Babasaheb Ambedkar were performed.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who took the initiative to resolve the long-pending issue of transfer of land from NTC to the State Government.
Fadnavis’ pledgeMaharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was here for the event, said a beautiful memorial will now be constructed for Babasaheb.
Textiles Minister Santosh Gangwar was also present on the occasion.
