The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, has urged investors from Singapore to invest in different sectors in the new State of Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation, promising them quality power supply and other facilities.

He was addressing local industrialists here on Tuesday at an interactive session in which a visiting team from Singapore also participated. The team was headed by the Singapore Minister for Industries, Easwaran.

He said Singapore was preparing the master plan for the new capital of Andhra Pradesh free-of-cost and Japan was also evincing interest in AP projects.

Chandrababu Naidu said the stretch between Visakhapatnam and Kakinada would be developed as a logistics hub with a number of ports.

"We already have three functioing ports in the region - Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram and Kakinada. Another port is coming up in East Godavari district near Kakinada, and we are planning another one at Nakkapalli in Visakhapatnam district," he said.

The Chief Minister said Visakhapatnam would be developed as an IT destination, tourism hub and also an educational centre.

"The foundation stone for the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) campus will be laid here on Saturday and the Birla group wants to set up a public school here. They have sought 40 acres of land. It will be provided to them. I am also urging them to set up BITS-Pilani," he said.

The Singapore Minister said there were two or three critical areas such as IT, tourism and port development in which Singapore investors would be interested in. "Your have a very persuasive CM. He will not rest till he gets what he wants," he remarked.

Then the team left for Vijayawada and Tirupati for similar such meetings.
