Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu met his Karnataka counterpart, HD Kumaraswamy, here on Friday, while the latter stopped here en route to Tirupati.

At the brief meeting, both the leaders discussed the necessity for unity among all regional parties, especially in the South. The meeting lasted half-an-hour.

Alternative to NDA

Later, interacting with the media, Chandrababu Naidu said all the regional parties should come together to defeat the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He said they will sit together for a elaborate discussions on developing an alternative to the NDA. Both the Chief Ministers stressed the need for unity among regional parties. Later, Kumaraswamy said that “it is of no consequence who should be the prime ministerial candidate, but the main agenda of the regional parties is defeating the NDA.”

He said, “We met several times last month and recently met in AP Bhavan in New Delhi and discussed several issues including how to go to the future general elections. We are like brothers and are eagerly waiting for elections. All leaders of regional parties will sit together and decide the prime ministerial candidate.”

‘BJP is myth’

Replying to a question on the third front being termed a myth by the BJP, he shot back, “The BJP is a myth”.

The Karnataka Chief Minister along with his family members was here on a personal trip to offer prayers at the famous Goddess Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri.
