Public sector Maharatna Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has launched its first ‘Apna SAIL Salem Stainless Shoppe’ in Kerala at the Kuttookan shopping complex in Kannur on Wednesday.
This is only the second retail outlet in the country for the Salem Steel brand of kitchen/tableware, an official spokesman said.
SAIL had launched its retail distribution network for its kitchenware items at Bangalore last month.
The spokesman quoted Saswat Mukhopadhyay, General Manager In-charge of Special Steel Marketing, SAIL, as saying that the tableware range includes dinner sets, travelling sets, casseroles and others.
Through distributors appointed at major centres in the southern states, it plans to set up a network of retailers for marketing these products under the umbrella ‘Apna SAIL Shoppe’ brand of retail outlets.
Select rangeA select range of bowls and baskets has been recently included to add a trendy flavour to the existing product-mix, Mukhppadhyay added. The stainless kitchen and tableware are also available on Flipkart.
Kannur’s Apna SAIL Salem Stainless Shoppe situated opposite to the Collectorate is managed by Linkwell Services, newly appointed distributor.
AK Sajith Kumar of Linkwell said that he proposed to expand the reach and availability of the kitchenware across entire Kerala through a string of retail outlets.
