Ashwini Nangia from the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been appointed as the Director of the CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune.
The 1960 born, Nangia, an alumnus of the IIT Kanpur is at present with the School of Chemistry at the UoH. Post his PhD (1988), he worked in NOCIL Agrochemicals R&D Centre, Navi Mumbai for a year, and then joined the University in 1989.
He has contributed to the new field of cocrystals and its applications to the pharmaceutical industry. He has over 200 research papers to his credit including several reviews. Nangia has guided over 20 PhD students in the past 25 years at UoH.
CSIR-NCL, Pune, established in 1950, is internationally known for its excellence in scientific research in chemistry and chemical engineering as well as for its outstanding track record of industrial research involving partnerships with industry from concept to commercialisation.
He is a JC Bose National Fellow, elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London, Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, according to a release from the UoH.
