Big C, a mobile phone retail chain, has roped in South Indian film actor Akkineni Samantha as its brand ambassador as it unveiled a new brand identity.
The firm, which has 225 stores in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, is planning to enter the Tamil Nadu market next month.
“After 16 years of existence, we have decided to expand our presence to other States. As part of the strategy, we will open stores in Tamil Nadu in September,” Balu Chowdhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Big C, said.
“We have decided to under go a change by redesigning the brand and providing an enhanced shopping experience,” he said.
The mobile retail space in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has been getting organised in the last two months, with two mobile retail companies, Happi and Celekt announcing plans to open large networks of phone outlets. While Happi signed actor Chiranjeevi’s son Ramcharan, Celekt roped in Jr NTR to promote its products.
