BuildMat 2015, an exhibition showcasing the latest in building materials, construction equipment and technology, is back in Coimbatore with three major construction industry associations joining together in organising it.
The four-day exhibition starting from February 5 comes at a time when the concept of Smart Cities is gaining momentum with the Centre indicating that it would fine-tune its Smart Cities plan after a two-day meeting of state government officials from today (Friday).
AEB forum
In a release, the organisers of the show - Association of Consulting Civil Engineers(I), Builders Association of India and Indian Institute of Architects - said the three associations had come together to form the Architects, Engineers and Builders (AEB) forum in the city to give a fillip to the construction industry.
The BuildMat was one of the initiatives launched by them in this regard and the BuildMat 2015 was the seventh edition. The event offered a single platform for all stakeholders to be aware of the latest innovations that have been made in different segments of the construction industry.
The latest show has attracted more than 250 participants and over 475 stalls would be put up. Apart from the products already available in the market, new products were expected to be launched during the exhibition. In addition to general visitors, the show also would be attended by more than 5,000 professionals connected with the industry.
The first two days of the exhibition (February 5 and 6) were for business visitors and the next two days were open to the general public.
An international seminar on `Smart Habitats-Building for the Future’ will be held on February 6 and 7, which was timely as the GoI was keen to build smart cities across the country. In fact, a meeting of state government officials has been convened by the Centre during today and tomorrow (Friday and Saturday) to discuss the issue.
