Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has chosen to opt out of the swearing-in of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi scheduled to take place in New Delhi tomorrow.
Chandy has an official invitation, but has politely communicated to Modi ‘pre-committed events’ that prevent his personal appearance during the ceremony in the evening, official sources said here.
But he has sought time for a personal audience with the Prime Minister when he reaches Delhi on June 2 for discussions with the Congress High Command on an expected reshuffle of the State Cabinet.
