A special court on Friday ordered framing of an additional charge of abetment of bribery against Congress leader and industrialist Naveen Jindal in a case pertaining to irregularities in the allocation of a Jharkhand coal block. Special judge Bharat Parashar said the charge will formally be framed against the accused on August 16.

The court had in April, 2016 ordered framing of charges against Jindal, former MoS for Coal Dasari Narayan Rao (since deceased), former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, former Coal Secretary H C Gupta and 11 others for the alleged offences of criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust under the IPC and sections of Prevention of Corruption Act in the case.

The case pertains to allocation of the Amarkonda Murgadangal coal block in Jharkhand.

Assets attached

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached fresh assets worth ₹101 crore of a Maharashtra-based firm in connection with its money laundering probe in the coal scam case, the agency said.

It issued a provisional order for attachment of an office building worth ₹80 crore at the integrated steel plant of Jayaswal Neco Industries in the Siltara area of Raipur in Chhattisgarh and land worth ₹21 crore in Bilaspur district.

The total value of the attached assets was ₹101 crore, the agency said in a statement. It had attached assets worth ₹206 crore of the firm last year.
