The Supreme Court has directed the CBI chief to clarify by May 6 as to why in the status report of March 8 no disclosure was made that the draft report has been shared with the Government.

The Supreme Court has asked why the CBI affidavit of April 26 has not given details about changes made in draft report and at whose instance.
The CBI Director is to specifically state if the draft report was shared with anyone other than the Law Minister, Joint Secretary from the PMO and Coal Ministry, as mentioned in the affidavit.
SC has directed the CBI chief to spell out the procedure being followed by the CBI under guidelines on sharing the status report on the ongoing investigation.
The CBI Director was asked to give details of the investigating team including CVs of DIGs/ SPs handling the probe in the coal allocation case.
The Court has told the CBI to be candid and truthful in its report.
The Supreme Court has posted the matter for next hearing on May 8.
