International forest day is celebrated every year on the March 21 to create awareness about various species, their habitat and conservation.

India is diverse in terms of its flora and fauna as well, as it holds half the world’s tiger population. According to the census conducted in 2014, the tiger population in India has gone up by 30% and effective measures to conserve other species are also on the rise. Whilst conservation steps taken by forest authorities and various NGOs, there is disruption to the wildlife habitat which is development and commercially driven. Photos: Paul Noronha
