Multiple LPG connections in the ‘same name and at the same address’ as well as ‘husband and wife’ owning connections at the same address would be summarily disconnected.

The Petroleum Ministry has extended the deadline by another 15 days, to (November 30), for submission of KYC (Know Your Customer) details by customers holding multiple domestic LPG connections.

This was following a request by the public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs) to extend the deadline.

Earlier too the companies had extended the deadline by 15 days from October 31. Sources in the know said that this was to facilitate customers who had missed the November 15 deadline.

Only customers whose names appear in the respective OMC Transparency Portal, as identified using/holding multiple LPG connections (the list is also available with respective LPG distributor), need to submit KYC details along with proof of identity and address before the deadline, the companies have been saying.

Dealers say that deadline extension was required because many customers came to know of it only in the first week of November. Besides, there are customers who did not take matter seriously till the last day.

Although cooking gas will be available to all customers, it will be at non-subsidised rates. Hence, if a customer does not complete the KYC formalities, he may end up paying market rates even though he is eligible for subsidised cylinders.
