A special court for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday reserved its order on the bail petition of YSR Congress Party chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy till September 23, in the illegal assets case.
Reddy, who was arrested in May last year, filed bail petition on September 11, on the ground that the four-month deadline set by the Supreme Court for completion of investigation by the CBI into the case against him ended on September 9.
Citing the on-going stir in the Seemandhra region against the bifurcation of State, he also said there was a need for him to lead the stir as a leader of a political party.
The counsel for CBI, however, argued that the observation of the Supreme Court pertained only to the completion of investigation but not to the bail. As Reddy was ‘a highly influential person,’ he would frustrate the process of trial, he added.
The premier investigating agency also filed two fresh charge sheets against the Kadapa MP and others taking to the total number of chargesheets filed in the case to 10.
