An Industrial Design Asia Tour will visit India between October 15 and 19 with an aim to focusing on Danish competencies in achieving cost reduction through innovative industrial design.

The tour is being organised by ‘Invest in Denmark’, a Danish government body that helps promote investments in the country, and the Confederation of Indian Design Industry.

The Danish team will visit Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune.

“As companies are facing increasing pressure to reduce their costs of productions, they have to think of new ways to create more innovative and creative products offering more value to their customers. And this is where Indian companies can learn from Denmark,” says Shanker Subramaniam, Senior Investment Manager of Invest in Denmark, who is leading the tour.

“Global companies can be inspired by the power of Danish design and use it in their business strategy to become more successful,” says Subramaniam.

Eskild Hansen, who is part of a new generation of internationally recognised Danish designers, will be a keynote speaker on the tour along with Vinay Venkatraman from Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design.

Eskild Hansen is Global Director of Design at Coloplast, a leading Danish medico company developing products and services that make life simpler for people with very private and personal medical conditions and is former Head of Cisco's European Design Center.

Vinay Venkatraman is trained as a product and interaction designer in India and Italy and helped shape product strategies for companies such as Nokia, Philips and Novo Nordisk. In the past his work has spanned from design of consumer products to software and film visual effects.
