India will take a call on voting on Sri Lanka’s human rights record at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) after the final resolution is made available to it and the Indian Permanent Representative to the UN briefs senior Government officials, an official spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs said here on Monday.
The resolution has been sponsored by the US.
“The resolution, in its final form, will be available late this evening, Geneva time. Besides, Dalip Sinha, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, will reach Delhi tomorrow for consultations on the matter,” the spokesman said.
The DMK, an ally of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre, has threatened to pull out of the alliance if the Centre fails to take steps to incorporate adequate amendments to the draft resolution against Sri Lanka in the UN Council.
